This isn’t my first blog about New Horizon’s Portlander Pants. Since the day they released, they’ve been a family fav. We’re in leggings, shorts, or these gems!
At some point during the winter, my middle girl said leggings were too cold for her to wear to school. She had a pair of Portlander’s handed down from her older sister, and she wore them constantly. I made up my mind that these always needed to be in the closet–especially in solids (just like our leggings).
So I used some glorious organic cotton spandex (we use Birch Fabrics…but cotton spandex in general is amazing), and the girls now have perfect wardrobe staples.
Although we didn’t sew pockets into these pairs (also an option with the pattern!), one of our favorite elements is the yoga waistband. It’s comfy, stays put, and with the higher fit, underwear or bellies aren’t showing! (except in this pic…)…🤟😅
Overall, the Portlanders do have some pretty awesome length on them, per size. I hemmed about 1” and then 1” again, and I love the look of the larger hem. As a matter of preference, if you have your child near, just have them slip the pants on before hemming so you get that desired length!
They’ll be so comfy, they might even give each other alllll the snuggles 😉 #momhack
Happy Sewing! And Happy Wearing!
Not a seamstress, or don’t have time right now to make your kids’ pants right now? I’ll be offering our organic cotton versions on my site at Lifecycle Apparel.
