Colorful, Color-blocked Hoodie for Spring! #SpringSewing

If you didn’t yet hear, New Horizons Designs rebranded as Pattern Niche! To celebrate the change, I wanted to sew something that held true to the qualities I look for in most patterns. They should be:

  1. Useful
  2. Stylish
  3. Long-lasting

I decided on the Summit Peak as my inaugural Pattern Niche pattern because my girls are able to wear their hoodies for more than a single year and constantly reach for them in our Michigan weather. Since we limit my girls’ wardrobes, I like to make each sew as special as I can. My daughter loves pockets (who doesn’t?!), so I made sure to include that option…as well as the drawstring for the hood so she can keep nice and cozy on cool nights. I had my daughter choose her fabrics from my collection, and she chose scraps of a dotted custom along with an organic floral cotton spandex. Both are durable and beautiful and will last her at least another year before this creation is passed to her younger siblings. As seamstresses, we sure do love when our creations get the extra love, don’t we! šŸ„°

The color-blocking is one of my favorite elements of this pattern. Annnd, those hidden pockets! šŸ˜

And check out that big, cozy hood šŸŒæ

I hope you loved a little spring-sewing inspiration! We’re still having plenty of cold days in Michigan, so this will get us through while being a bright-and-cheery reminder of hope that spring is very near !!

Keep well, and be sure to share your inspirations!
