Welcome to the second day of magic at the Simple Life Holiday Blog Tour 2019! The fun continues! I’m so honored to be among the awesome bloggers within the tour; it not only gets me sewing my holiday outfits early (cha-ching!) — but it also enlivens my feed with such beautiful, festive, and magical creations ✨✨✨
As part of the holiday fun, there is a SALE from 11/11-11/25 that you can enjoy along with fun giveaways each day. So…let’s take a peek at my little gal’s holiday Mia!
My Pattern of Choice for the 2019 Blog Tour
I chose the Mia Top, Dress, and Maxi in knee dress length because of its gorgeous back detailing. I’m usually a sewer of knits, and I wanted to enjoy the woven process–how the natural fibers beautifully steam, how the pattern’s design lends for a precise fit, how the button closure and elastic back add the most adorable detail while still being very beginner-and-time-friendly.
The only modification I made to the pattern was the added skirt border. There is a border for the Top version within the pattern, and I loved that idea. I used 6” for my width (which will be folded in half) and the same length as the skirt pieces (x2, just like the skirt). And then I followed the same directions offered for the Top version.
I adore how it adds just enough “pattern” when split like this between the bodice and skirt. These gorgeous fabrics were provided by So Sew English, and they have a most incredible secret …. 🤫 … they’re Glow In The Dark! Think of all of the light parades and dark-room Christmas concerts and plays. My daughter is so excited to be another bright-shining light within the dark, winter sky!

Note: Many of my blog posts contain affiliate links. In the blogger world, this is a beautiful thing and one of the ways our sewing community supports one another. At no additional cost to you, if you love a pattern I highlight and purchase it, I receive a small portion of the profit as a thank you from the pattern company. I only ever sew what I love and believe in (I choose every pattern I sew); fabric, time, and our ethical responsibility are too precious and costly to do otherwise. xo! Jennifer
