Bubble Short Sewing with Laela Jeyne’s Deluxe Charlotte *Pattern Test

Floralshorts5

Marisa of Laela Jeyne Patterns has really upped the bar for legging patterns with her Deluxe Charlotte Legging & Sweatpants Pattern.

This expanded version of the Charlotte Leggings offers sweatpants in addition to the fitted leggings, various waistbands (elastic, band, yoga waistband), lengths (boy short, short, knee length, capri, & ankle); and there are pocket options for each and jogging instructions. Basically, I’m throwing out my various pant patterns and replacing with this all-in-one (sizes 6M-14 for girls or 6M – 6 years for boys!).

My favorite creation with this pattern so far is the bubble look. It’s so sweet, paired with a peasant top, tunic, onesie, or a naked baby belly. I can’t get enough of them for my girls (6 months, 2.5, and 4). Marisa has done a great job of fine-tuning the various sizes so to look great on such a wide range of sizes.

If you love the bubble look and want to make this style, you’ll want the “shorts” length, the yoga waistband, and the leg elastic. That’s it! I also add some twill tape for cute factor!

Fabrics are (sold out) Purple Seamstress floral, CLUB fabric arrows from Raspberry Creek Fabric, and oatmeal french terry from LDG Show Room.

And if you’re new to Laela Jeyne, be sure to join her Facebook group, and you’ll find a code for the traditional fitted Charlotte Leggings FREE (this does not include the sweatpants version, though, which you need for the bubble look).
